Driving Licence and Driving History

Renters above the age of 25 must have held a full and valid driving licence for a minimum of 1 year which must be in the renter’s current address. No copies of licences will be accepted.

You may check it yourself on the internet no more than 72 hours in advance OR check at the rental office when you collect your vehicle.

This will add a few minutes to the normal procedure so please allow time for this to be done.

This is essential for Rental Companies to do in order to comply with the Insurance Companies Rules.

You can still show the green paper counterpart along with the photo card but it will not be updated after 8th June by DVLA so they have provided a service for checking which works as follows:-

You will need your Driving Licence, National Insurance Number and Post Code.

First the customer must go to this web site address:- https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
Log in with the full 16 digit driver number, National Insurance Number and Postcode.
Then choose to SHARE the driving licence information, this page can be printed as well. If you cannot print - no problem - BUT make sure you bring the SHARE code to the rental office along with the licence and your ID.

ALL DRIVERS must do this.

They will enter the SHARE code that you the driver(s) have been given.

They can then print (on ONE page) all of the drivers information. The rental company has to have this information for their Insurance Company.

There is also another option for UK customers who have trouble on the web checking their own licence or who don't know their National Insurance number. If UK licence holders cannot generate a code online then they can call 0300 083 0013 (national rate from a land line) and DVLA will provide them with a SHARE code. Monday to Friday 8.00am to 7pm, Saturday 8.00am to 2pm. National Insurance number NOT needed.

Alternatively they can call DVLA on 0300 790 6801 (national rate from a land line) and leave permission for their driving record to be checked verbally by a nominated person or organisation. They have to go through 3 levels of options which are 1 - 4 - 2. This permission is valid for 7 days. Monday to Friday 8.00am to 7pm, Saturday 8.00am to 2pm. National Insurance number NOT needed. The nominated site who needs the information then calls DVLA, states who they are and that there is a verbal message allowing them the information. DVLA willthen give the details the site needs (entitlements and endorsements).

Terms and Conditions

  • All pricing is per day and subject to availability.
  • Minimum rental period is 24 hours (unless stated otherwise).
  • All rentals include insurance (subject to excess, breakdown cover, mileage (subject to local limits) and VAT).
  • Collision Damage Waiver may be available please ask for details.
  • The Damage and Theft excess may vary by location please ask for details.
  • Van Rentals are subject to an overhead roof damage excess.
  • Additional Drivers are acceptable at an additional cost.
  • Drivers must have held their licence for a minimum of 12 months (or 2 years if the driver is under 25 or a non UK license holder.)
  • One Way rentals are available please ask for details.
  • Deposits are required on all rentals.
  • When you reserve a vehicle with us we will assume your drop off time is the same as your pick up time UNLESS YOU MAKE IT CLEAR OTHERWISE.

Car/MPV Hire Age Range: 23-75 (this may vary on some makes and models)

Van/Minibus Hire Age Range: 23-72 (this may vary on some makes and models)

Drivers outside these ranges may be accepted subject to insurance clearance (surcharges may apply)

  • Foreign Licence Rules - We must be able to read and understand the licence presented and establish it is valid. We can not accept an International Drivers Permit on it's own without the original under any circumstances. European Licences with the EU symbol are fine without an International licence. IDP's are intended for the purpose of translation. The onus is on the Renter to provide a translation to confirm all our Insurance Risk questions.

Cancellation and No Show Policy

If your travel plans change, you may normally cancel your booking free of charge anytime up until 24 hours before your rental is due to start except rentals commencing on a Monday which require 48 hours notice of cancellation. Please check with your renting site if the local terms are different.

If you fail to pick up your car or van on the day your rental is due to start, or do not cancel with more than 24 hours notice prior to the time it is due to start, you will be required to pay at least £35 or the locations own designated fee.

Vehicles are subject to availability. If not available a free upgrade to the next vehicle group will be offered. The location you want to book with will give you a minimum 48 hours notice in the event that they have to cancel your booking in extreme unforeseen circumstances, Cancellation would only occur after every effort has been made to source an alternative vehicle/transport and where a free upgrade would not be appropriate.

General

Please arrive approximately 5 minutes before your scheduled slot, it gives us enough time to welcome you in, go through the essentials and produce the rental agreement. We expect you here at the set time of your reservation, if you are struggling, please inform us. Please adhere to the set return times, too.

Once you have booked online, or when we email you the Terms and Conditions after you have booked over the phone; we automatically assume you have read and understood them and meet all the requirements. Therefore if you fail to provide us with any of the documentations mentioned or do not comply with any of the below terms and conditions on collection we reserve the right to refuse the rental.

On Collection

When collecting the vehicle, please remember about the minimum of £250.00 pre-authorisation in addition to the appropriate rental charges.

You must bring with you:

A valid driving licence; if old (paper-only) style, official photo ID must also be presented. Please also remember to visit https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence to get the code; or bring your National Insurance Number so a member of staff can do it for you. (If the licence does not show current home address, a valid passport or national identity card must also be presented). You must also present 2 other additional forms of ID; and at least one of them needs to confirm current home address. For example, one could be the credit card/bank statement for the credit card/debit card being presented for deposit and additional charges. The other could be a formal document (e.g. Work ID Card, Utility Bill) both must be dated within 12 weeks of date of hire. If you fail to supply any of the above and have not discussed this with a member of staff in advance there is a high risk the rental will not go ahead.

Price

Rates include VAT, insurance (subject to the damage liability of the vehicle), breakdown cover and an allowance of 150 miles per 24hrs, 1000 per week and 2000 per month (unless otherwise stated), all per one driver only. If your journey is longer than 150 miles, and you are going to exceed the mileage allowance, you can either purchase the unlimited mileage package on collection, or pay 10p per each extra mile on return. If you require any other extras such as extra drivers added, unlimited packages, collision damage waivers, those can be purchased on collection and prices are given below in the extras box. 

 

Excess

Excess is the maximum payable amount Renter is liable for per occurance during the rental period, from the time the check sheet is signed by the customer until it is checked back in by a member of staff. The excess amount included in the price quoted is;

£1000.00 for accidental damage; (the ONLY waivable excess, consider CDW to reduce it, read about it in Extras box)

£1500.00 in case of theft or write off; (Non-waivable) 

£1500.00 in case of van or truck overhead damage (Non-waivable) 

 

 

 

Out of Hours

We do offer the option of attended and unattended Out of Hours returns as well as attended Out of Hours collections. The attended Out of Hours returns and collections will be charged at up to £20.00 each. If however, you prefer to drop the vehicle off out of hours and do not want to pay extra you will remain responsible for the vehicles condition until a member of staff checks it next working day.
